How to Install a Cobblestone Brick Overlay On A Concrete Patio
You can spruce up a concrete patio and give it a customized look with a cobblestone overlay. This is a good option for your home if you have cracked concrete and stains from years of use and abuse.
It doesn’t take that long to overlay cobblestone on a concrete patio. All you need are the materials, instructions and the time. This is a weekend project you can do by yourself depending on your skills. Get a friend to help and you’re in even better shape.
You will need some cobble paver stones, paver base, polymeric sand, mortar a rake and push broom. Measure your space to determine how much material you need.
Apply a thin layer of paver base over the concrete. There should be an 8-inch border remaining for the mortar and stone edge.
Starting in one corner place the first patio stone down on the paver base. Position the stones in a way in which the sides don’t match up. This will give the patio a cobbled and more authentic look. Cover the entire you’d like to finish with the cobblestone pavers.
Cover the edge of your cobblestone brick patio with a layer of mortar. Use a trowel to apply the mortar. Place the cobblestone pavers on the mortar. This will lock the stones in place.
Now you’re ready for the final step. Use a push broom to apply polymeric sand in the edges of the cobblestone. Mist the patio with water to settle the sand.
