It doesn’t take that long to overlay cobblestone on a concrete patio. All you need are the materials, instructions and the time. This is a weekend project you can do by yourself depending on your skills. Get a friend to help and you’re in even better shape.

You will need some cobble paver stones, paver base, polymeric sand, mortar a rake and push broom. Measure your space to determine how much material you need.

Apply a thin layer of paver base over the concrete. There should be an 8-inch border remaining for the mortar and stone edge.

Starting in one corner place the first patio stone down on the paver base. Position the stones in a way in which the sides don’t match up. This will give the patio a cobbled and more authentic look. Cover the entire you’d like to finish with the cobblestone pavers.

Cover the edge of your cobblestone brick patio with a layer of mortar. Use a trowel to apply the mortar. Place the cobblestone pavers on the mortar. This will lock the stones in place.

Now you’re ready for the final step. Use a push broom to apply polymeric sand in the edges of the cobblestone. Mist the patio with water to settle the sand.

For additional touches for your cobblestone brick patio, use a raised border to create planter boxes within your patio redesign. This will contain the mulch and give you a place to feature plants– potted or planted– as well as landscaping lighting.

Decorate your updates space with a stylish outdoor patio set.

Porch railing can add a cozy and warm element an individual’s home; however, it does require a proper amount of time and planning in order to be performed correctly. Proper installation will allows the porch railing of one’s home to maintain a professionally installed appearance. In order to achieve proper installation of a porch railing, an individual will need to have an accurate measurement of the space in which the railing will be installed.

They must have the correct tools for the installation procedure, such as drills, a saw, nails, a wooden file, or whatever else might be required. Depending upon how much railing there is to be installed, learning how to install a porch railing is not a difficult task. The typical job will take between two and six hours. It is important that the individual wear the proper safety equipment, such as goggles, throughout the entire process. As aforementioned, accurate measurements will be critical to an individual’s success at this undertaking.

Accurate measurements of the surface area available for the porch will be essential. These measurements should include the space between nailing points. It will be important for an individual to ensure that their filler strips are cut to match the exact required length and are measured from the top rather than the bottom.

Before a person begins to install a porch rail, they should also mark the spots where they intend to position the balustrades. If a person is not confident enough to build the porch railing themselves, then they can simply purchase pre fabricated porch railing that is ready to be installed with the use of screws and a drill. Regardless of which method a person uses to obtain their porch railing, it is important to ensure that the porch railing undergoes water proofing treatment to ensure its durability.

A plastic landscape and garden edging is very useful in providing a way to separate your lawn from the garden area. The landscape border is responsible for retaining mulch and soil in garden beds while blocking the way for the roots of grasses from entering.

Curv Rite Lawn Edging Kit

If you want to install plastic landscape and garden edging in your own yard, here are some steps that you can follow.

Materials Needed
• Utility knife
• Pruners
• Spade – flat tip
• Measuring tape

Steps
• Purchasing your plastic landscape and garden edging materials. Determine where you want to install the edging and get the measurement using a measuring tape. You can purchase plastic landscape garden edging materials in any store for home improvement or garden center. The edgings are usually 5.5 inches tall and are available in sturdy strips or rolls, connected together by clips in C-shape. Usually, c-clips are separately sold, together with the stakes which would be used to keep the plastic landscape garden edging in its place when installed. Strips on the other hand are more expensive compared to rolls and are commercial grade quality.
• Digging a trench. The depth of the trench must be equal to the plastic edging’s height, or more. The trench must be V-shape, cutting one side straight down while the other side gets an angle of just about 45 degrees. You can use pruners to get rid of any remaining roots.
• Placing the plastic edging in the trench. Place the edging’s first strip into the trench. The edge which is hooked at the bottom must face the soil bed. If the strip is too long, cut it using a utility knife. Use the c-clip to connect the pieces of strip.
• Installing the stakes. For the installation of stakes, dig 4 areas just along the trench and also into the soil bed for every 20-foot edging strip. Two areas must be 2-3 inches from the end of strip’s end, the remaining 2 areas must be spaced equally between each end. The area which you need to dig must measure about 6 inches for the width and 12 inches for the length into the soil bed. You will use this area to hammer stakes through the garden edging and right into the soil bed beneath the grasses.

A front yard water feature pond and waterfall is a great way to celebrate nature and show off some great curb appeal. You can build your own front yard pond over the course of a few weekends. A front yard pond works best if you have a large front yard. For a smaller front yard, downscale the size of the pond.

The first thing you’ll want to do is find a location for your front yard pond. A sunny location is great for water plants. Avoid putting your pond under a tree so you won’t have to scoop out fallen leaves. Choose a spot where you can view your pond from your front porch.

Before you dig call your utility company to make there are no buried lines. Spray paint the outline of your pond. Use a shovel to dig the pond and remove the dirt.

If you’re going to have fish in your pond, make it at least 18 inches deep. Since this pond will be in the front yard and accessible to children, plan to put a decorative fence around the pond.

After you’ve removed the dirt from the pond hole, install a 45-mil EPDM liner safe enough for fish. You can get the 45 Mil EPDM Fish Safe Pond Liner here.

Place landscape rocks all around the pond liner to create a border and to hold down the liner.

Put in a pond water pump. Beckett makes the 7060110 210 GPH Underwater Pump for Small Ponds, Fountains, Waterfalls If you don’t have a GFCI outlet installed to power the pump, a licensed electrician can install one for you. Install a water circulation pipe and lead it from the pump to the place you’ll put the waterfall.

Create your waterfall with large flat rocks. To create the water flow, install a plastic pond weir and connect it to the water circulation pipe. The water flows over the weir and down the rocks.

Now you’re ready to fill the pond with water. The tap water will have some natural chemicals in it, such as chloroform, so you’ll want to wait a week before you add plants and fish.
